If you use Sat nav, you may need to ignore the instruction to turn left (signed to ‘Maidensgrove Only’) when you reach the top of the hill from Stonor, coming from the Henley/Stonor direction.  If you are coming from the Nettlebed/Watlington direction, Sat nav should bring you here correctly.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS LITTLE/NO MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL IN THE STONOR VALLEY AND SOME OTHER LOCAL AREAS BUT USUALLY IS OK ONCE YOU HAVE REACHED MAIDENSGROVE COMMON

Directions – from Henley:

  • Take Fairmile (A4130) towards Oxford
  • Just before the dual carriageway begins, turn right signed to Stonor (B4180)
  • Follow this road for approx 3 miles until you reach the village of Stonor where you will see the Quince Tree Pub on the right hand side
  • Shortly after the Quince Tree, take the next turning left signed to Maidensgrove (don’t miss this turning!)
  • Follow this single track road up the hill, through the woods and out on to Maidensgrove Common – after leaving the woods, ignore the turning left signed to ‘Maidensgrove Only’.  (Satnav is likely to instruct you to take this left turning)
  • Continue across the common for approx half a mile until the road takes a big right hand bend
  • Approx ¼ mile after the bend, you will drive under an Ash tree which overhangs the road and then you will see our drive on the left with a Neighbourhood Watch sign at the end of the drive
  • Turn down the drive and Oak Farm is located through the wooden gates on the left
  • PARKING – please park only on the right hand side of the drive without obstructing the drive and do not drive through or park inside the wooden gates on the left, or the gate ahead
  • The ponies are located behind the house so walk through the wooden gate and follow the Learn With Smartie signs, keeping to the left hand side of the house and you will come to Smartie’s stable
  • Please do not turn to the right after you have walked through the wooden gates or enter the garden with the swings and slides

Directions – from Nettlebed:

  • Take the B481 towards Watlington and continue for approx 3 miles until you have driven through Cookley Green
  • Shortly after leaving Cookley Green, turn right signed to Russells Water and Maidensgrove
  • Follow this road for approx 1.5 miles, passing through Russells Water and eventually leaving the Five Horseshoes Pub on your right
  • You will now be on Maidensgrove Common and after no more than ¼ mile, you will see Cookley Hill Farm on your right with large wooden gates
  • The drive to Oak Farm is approx 50m past Cookley Hill Farm, just round the bend so don’t miss it!  There is a Neighbourhood Watch sign at the end of our drive
  • Turn down the drive and Oak Farm is located through the wooden gates on the left
  • PARKING – please park only on the right hand side of the drive without obstructing the drive and do not drive through or park inside the wooden gates on the left, or the gate ahead
  • The ponies are located behind the house so walk through the wooden gate and follow the Learn With Smartie signs, keeping to the left hand side of the house and you will come to Smartie’s stable

Directions – from Watlington:

  • Take the B481 towards Nettlebed/Reading/Henley and continue for approx 2 miles until you reach the top of Howe Hill (a steep hill)
  • At the top of the hill, take the second turning left signed to Russells Water and Maidensgrove
  • Follow this road for approx. 1.5 miles, passing through Russells Water and eventually leaving the Five Horseshoes Pub on your right
  • You will now be on Maidensgrove Common and after approx. ¼ mile, you will see Cookley Hill Farm on your right with large wooden gates
